House Beautiful’s 2025 Whole Home Project Lands in Austin

The House Beautiful Whole Home Austin project returns for its eighth year, showcasing a bold vision of design and community. This year’s edition takes place in the lush, laidback neighborhood of Deep Eddy, just minutes from downtown Austin, Texas. The project brings together an all-star team of designers and partners to create a tri-level modern treehouse that merges boutique luxury with the comforts of home.

A Treehouse Built for Gathering

Spanning 3,800 square feet, the home includes four bedrooms, four bathrooms, two outdoor decks, and a two-car garage. Every inch is designed with detail and purpose, blending modern sophistication with warm, inviting layers. If there’s one theme running throughout, it’s that this Whole Home is built for connection—a true gathering space for family and friends.

The Design Dream Team

For the second time, the project is led entirely by women. Eight interior designers from across the United States bring their unique perspectives to the home:

  • Sara Malek Barney (Austin and Los Angeles)
  • Rydhima Brar (Los Angeles)
  • Caitlin Creer (Salt Lake City)
  • Amber Guyton (Atlanta)
  • Kathy Kuo (New York)
  • Amber Lewis (Los Angeles)
  • Kim Lewis (Austin and Boston)
  • Leah O’Connell (San Francisco)

Working in collaboration with Katie Hastings Architecture and Villani & Graham builders, the team emphasizes both craftsmanship and storytelling. Each space reflects a distinct personality while maintaining a cohesive flow that connects the house to its natural surroundings.

Where Boutique Meets Home

The concept blends the spirit of a boutique hotel with the familiarity of a private residence. Rich textures, layered finishes, and thoughtful layouts create a balance between style and comfort. The home is also deeply rooted in its setting, drawing inspiration from Austin’s creative energy, community spirit, and lush greenery.

The House Beautiful Whole Home Austin project once again proves that design can be both aspirational and livable. With a tri-level modern treehouse designed by an all-female team, the showcase celebrates creativity, inclusivity, and the joy of gathering. It is not just a house, but a reflection of how people want to live—connected, comfortable, and inspired.
